Installing Linux

My suggestion is to play around with your new computer for a while using Windows, you may not like it, I agree, but this lets you know in advance if the problems you'll encounter are due to software or hardware malfunctionings. Check if the display looks fine, try the sound capabilities, test the PCMCIA cards and try to take note of as many information as possible about IRQs, DMAs, I/O ports of the devices you have, including sound cards, video cards and all of the machine's ports. You'll find all that quite useful, sooner or later.
